Your First Visit
At your first visit with us, Dr. Weiss will do a comprehensive examination to determine what your orthodontic needs are. This appointment is very easy and comfortable - we will take digital photographs, and may take some X-rays if necessary. Of course, this will all be explained to you in detail. We will also ask you some questions about your general medical and dental health. For your convenience, you can fill out your medical history form online, print it out, and bring it to the office. For Children
Dr. Weiss will recommend treatment when your child is truly ready for it, which can vary from child to child, thus preventing prolonged treatment. The Canadian Association of Orthodontists recommends that all children receive an orthodontic evaluation around age 7. Although many children are not ready for treatment at this age, we can already get an idea of how the teeth and jaws are developing, and will recommend interceptive treatment if necessary, for the benefit of your child. Such things as the growth of the jaws, the growth of the permanent teeth, and your child's ability to cooperate with orthodontic treatment are all factors which are taken into consideration. If treatment is not yet indicated, then your child is monitored on our recall program while the teeth are erupting and the jaws and face continue to grow.
For Adults
It's never too late! If the teeth and gums are healthy, you can experience the aesthetic, emotional and dental health improvements of a pleasing smile at just about any age. You may already be aware that ongoing scientific research continues to suggest that there is a link between oral health and overall health.
Digital Photography and X-rays
These immediate high quality digital images are taken and interpreted. This allows us to diagnose and plan your treatment options right away.
Your Treatment Options
Following a thorough clinical examination, all aspects of your treatment plan will be presented to you. Your individual needs and specific goals will be correlated to the clinical findings.
Manageable Payment Arrangements
As a convenience, the payment can be spread out over the treatment time with no additional interest charges. We will provide you with the receipts necessary for insurance or income tax purposes, as well as insurance forms as needed. There are no taxes on orthodontic treatment.
A Full Understanding
In most cases, by the end of your consultation, you will have all of the information that you need to make a confident decision about orthodontic treatment. You should clearly understand your needs, and the options to reach your specific goals. On occasion, further tests or consultations with other specialists may be needed, and we will be happy to explain this to you. If you would like to work with us to achieve your goals, then we will be happy to schedule the appointments necessary to begin your orthodontic treatment.
Of course, you are welcome to think about our treatment recommendations - we would be pleased to follow-up with you at a later date. You will have appropriate literature and a treatment report which you can review at home. We will also provide your family dentist with a report about your orthodontic findings.
